Iceland's greatest hits in five days. This route pairs the famous Golden Circle with the waterfall-lined South Coast and the black-sand drama of Reynisfjara — all on easy, paved roads that suit any campervan. It's the perfect first trip to Iceland and our most popular self-drive itinerary.
Day-by-day itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival & Reykjavík
Pick up your camper at Keflavík Airport, stock up on groceries, and spend your first night near Reykjavík or Þingvellir as you settle into life on the road.
- Day 2
The Golden Circle
Þingvellir National Park where two tectonic plates drift apart, the erupting Strokkur geyser at Geysir, and the thundering Gullfoss waterfall. Finish at the vivid Kerið crater lake.
- Day 3
South Coast waterfalls
Walk behind Seljalandsfoss and stand beneath the mighty Skógafoss, then continue to the seaside village of Vík and the famous Reynisfjara black-sand beach and its basalt columns.

Around Vík
Explore the Dyrhólaey arch and sea cliffs, take in the endless landscapes, and enjoy a relaxed evening under the open sky — or the northern lights in season.
- Day 5
